Brace yourself for an enchanted rail journey as you watch, Track Cars on Parade. Running on a scenic, 3.5 mile stretch of the former Boston & Maine line to Conway, the Silver Lake RR has been open to the public in Madison, NH, since 2007. The attraction showcases the historic little engines that transported track gangs to work sites along the right of way. Power units include four Fairmont A-6’s, and one A-8. There are also a variety of colorful display engines. The restored, 1910 railroad station houses a museum that includes the original Ticket Master’s Office, with Big Band and Swing music playing in the background. See a working semaphore and rail switch. And don’t miss ice cream and hot dogs at the restored, Riley Bros. Diner. Passengers of all ages are welcome, riding in low-slung cars with a perfect view, and best of all there’s a donation box on the side of each car--you decide what to pay!
